Powerpoint

Since we didn't have class this week we had a power point project to work on.  The first step was to read some articles about Power point.  The articles were interesting.  I wasn't aware of how heavily the military relied on power point.  In high school I had a lot of experience with power points and their hypnotizing efforts.  Almost every one that I can remember was an example of how not to make an interesting power point.  They had lots of text, few pictures, and resulted in the teacher droning on for what seemed like hours and hours.  A few of the down sides to using power points is that the bulleted points can over simplify ideas or make them vague, they take a lot of time to make, and they suppress original thoughts.  They help because they don't force the maker to spend time polishing their prose.  The second article gave a variety of tips for making good power points.  These included making sure that your slides are clear, keeping your sentences short, using contrasting font and background colors, and being enthusiastic when presenting.

I did my presentation on CSO FL.O.LIII.1.01"exchange oral and written information on topics of personal interest, incorporating advanced vocabulary and structures and past, present and future tenses." I focused on the conjugation and different uses of the Preterit and Imperfect tenses.  I used Power Point and my camera to make the presentation.  I saved the pictures to my computer then inserted them into the slides.  My presentation had 4 different parts.  The first showed how to conjugate the verbs, the second told when to use the different tenses, the third told a story with a variety of verbs in both tenses, the fourth showed a review.  I centered the story around three rubber ducks who show up in different places on campus.
After I finished the presentation I uploaded it to slideshare.net.   Click here to view my power point, or view below.

This relates to standard 1.a. "promote, support, and model creative and innovative thinking and inventiveness." This project required us to think for ourselves and use our imaginations to come up with an interesting and informative presentation.
