Our project today focused on making an image depicting where our work is saved. I included in mine pictures of screencast.com, Blogger, Google docs, and AOL for my virtual locations and a jumpdrive and my computer's storage locations for the physical locations.
You can click here to view the picture.
The physical locations have the most draw backs, the primary one being that you have to have them with you in order to be able to access the files. With a hard drive one of the issues is that you can't always carry your computer with you. With a jump drive the oposite is the issue, you can always carry it with you because of its small size and light weight, which makes it very easy for it to get lost or left places. Also these forms run the risk of crashing or breaking.
The virtual storage location have the dual drawback and advantage of being on the internet. This is nice when you have access to the web, but if you don't then you no longer have access to any of the files. There is also the risk of the site crashes and being down right when you need the file.
This relates to Standard 2. a. "design or adapt relevant learning experiences that incorporate digital tools and resources to promote student learning and creativity." By having us use some type of digital image creator instead of just writing something, it encourages us to be creative and to learn about ways to better use the image tools.
